International Happiness at Work Week – Day 4

Travis has been our CEO for two years now. A lot of decisions he has made this year have been powered by putting people first. So, we asked him a few questions about Employee Happiness at work. 😀⬇️ What’s been your happiness-highlight so far this year? “It’s tough for me to choose one highlight because we’ve had several great moments this year. We’ve opened two new offices, increased our staff by 20%, we established a “Shadow Board” of Directors providing an opportunity for future leaders to collaborate, and we’ve formally established an Interior Design Department. With all that said, I am so proud and impressed by the way the firm came together around our internship program this year. 💻Our internship program is one of the most critical ways to propel our firm into the future. COVID took us out of our rhythm, but it gave us a chance to rethink the whole program – why it’s important and what we could do better. We generated a lot of energy internally and ended up hosting 17 interns across all six offices 🏢 and multiple disciplines; architecture, mechanical, electrical, transportation, and civil engineering. We had an outstanding group of interns – a really sharp group of students. It’s a huge accomplishment for our firm and has opened so many opportunities to connect with that generation of architects and engineers in the coming years.” What are you most looking forward to over the next few months? “It’s been a busy year. We’ve done a lot of work, and we have a lot of work on our plates. 🍽️ We are awaiting the outcome of several funding applications and upcoming school votes for significant capital projects. Over the next few months, I’m looking forward to making a big push to end the year and celebrating another successful year with the staff at our Christmas Parties and 29th Annual Toy Drive. 🎁 It’s important for us to take some time at the end of the year to reflect on our accomplishments, spend time with our families, and recharge for a strong start to 2024.”
