Leading New York State A&E firm, BCA Architects & Engineers, continues to grow in numbers of people, projects, and offices. BCA is delighted to announce the elevation of four new Owners and five new Associates. We celebrate the achievement of these individuals and their contributions to the growth and expansion of BCA to three offices and over 100 people.
Michael graduated in 2009 from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Resources and Forestry Engineering. Michael was an intern at BCA for many summers while at College. He designs site and utility project and provides project management, site plan review, and SWPPP compliance services for BCA clients. Michael resides in Watertown and holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Michael D. Altieri, P.E., Senior Civil Engineer
Thomas J. Cataldo, P.E., Senior Civil EngineerTom is a graduate of Clarkson University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and has been with BCA since 2009. Tom designs and manages municipal water and wastewater projects from BCA’s Watertown office. Prior to BCA, he worked for 20 years in the industrial and manufacturing sector. Tom resides in Adams with his wife Benita, daughter Angela, and son Brendan.
Bryan T. Cowell, R.A., LEED Green Associate, Senior Project ArchitectBryan is a 2004 graduate of Alfred State College with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. He joined BCA in 2005 and is working with K-12 school districts throughout the North Country out of the Watertown office. Bryan currently resides in Alexandria Bay where he enjoys woodworking and kayaking.
John A. Sokol, R.A., Senior Project ArchitectJohn is a 1991 graduate of SUNY Delhi with an A.A.S. in Architectural Technologies. John joined BCA in 2016 and is working out of BCA’s Ithaca office on K-12 projects across New York State. John lives in Newark Valley with his wife Karen, daughter Briana, and son Nathan, where he enjoys golf and basketball.
Krysta S. Aten-Schell, A.I.A., LEED AP BD+C, Project Architect and LEED AdministratorKrysta is a 2008 graduate of the University of Idaho with a B.S. in Architectural Design. Krysta joined BCA in 2008 after interning at BRS Architects in Boise, Idaho. She serves as the LEED Administrator, focusing the firm's efforts on sustainability and energy efficiency and specializes in healthcare design. She lives in Adams Center with her husband Cory and daughter Kaylin, where she enjoys gardening, canning and competing in triathlons.
Rachel E. Bernat, P.E., LEED Green Associate, Senior Civil EngineerRachel graduated from Clarkson University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a concentration in Environmental Engineering. She also has an Associate of Science degree in Engineering Science from Jefferson Community College. She joined BCA in 2007 and previously interned for the firm for three summers during college. Rachel works on regulatory permits and funding applications as well as designing and managing water and wastewater projects from BCA’s Watertown office. She currently lives in Ellisburg with her husband Dan, and daughters Megan and Emily.
Michael L. Churchill, P.E., Director of Aviation ServicesMichael has been a leader in the aviation market for 36 years. He joined BCA in 2017, officially launching our Aviation Division. He manages our Saratoga Springs office while servicing BCA’s aviation market, including Watertown International Airport, a longstanding client. Michael graduated from Norwich University in 1982. He resides in Galway with his wife Louise Thomas-Churchill and sons Drew and Curtis, where he enjoys coaching Special Olympics basketball.
Casey D. Dickinson, P.E., Senior Civil EngineerCasey is a 2011 graduate of Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering. He also has an Associate of Science degree in Engineering Science from Jefferson Community College. He has been with the firm since 2011, working out of BCA's Watertown office. Casey designs and manages projects for Ft. Drum and municipalities across the North Country and lives in Copenhagen with his wife Carissa and daughter Lowyn.
David R. Funk, A.I.A., Project ArchitectDavid is a 2006 graduate of Alfred State College with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. He joined BCA in 2015 and is working out of BCA’s Ithaca office on K-12 projects across New York State. David resides in Cortland with his wife Amanda, daughter Natalie, son Ian, and mother Christine.
