The Town of Webb Union Free School District has developed a Community Based School Program concept that will be brought to the voters in the future as a capital project. Both District, and community needs were considered when determining the best use for facilities by leveraging the school facility for all. By rethinking programs and making facilities open and available to outside groups, our students will be exposed to the broader community, and our facilities better utilized.
The community-based school concept was initially conceived by the District but left to a community group to determine the program and facilities they believed would best serve the entire community. The committee, consisting of a diverse cross-section of the constituency, reviewed past and current surveys and discussed pertinent needs with the staff and various community groups. Looking at our school buildings as a "total community" asset to be fully accessed by various stakeholder groups will engage our students, maximize our resources and strengthen the bonds within the community.
